Many friends said they would go with us, but it turned out that most of them were busy with something else. And, it is funny to tell, because of the absence of somebody, some others wouldn’t like to go again. So finally, only Guowen and I traveled there. But it’s OK! I think I would go even I was alone if I’d planned to. For me, there are various ways to enjoy life, and sometimes, travelling alone is also great fun!

We started at 7:30 in the morning. Since Guowen hadn’t been to our school for a long time, I volunteered to be his guide to show him around our campus. GDUFS’s morning is wonderful, especially on Spring!

The Beauty GDUFS's Morning

Later we took a bus to the Maofeng Mountain. We first arrived at Tongluowan Area, which was one of the two spots of this Mountain, about an hour later. There were many locals with their motorcycles running towards us as soon as we were off the bus. They said they could save some money for us since they were locals, and they would like to take us to the parking area, the start point of the places of interest. We thanked their goodness and said we would like to by ourselves since we were not here all for the beautiful landscapes but enjoying the whole process.

The beautiful Tongluowan reservoir

We began to head for the Entertained Temple, the highest point of this area. Wow, it was really a long walk! There were lots of long stairs which seemed to be no ending at all. I felt exhausted when climbing the long stairs even though I often climb mountain and almost run everyday. It took us over 2 hours to reach the so-called Entertained Temple, and we were wet all over! Frankly speaking, the temple is just so so, but we did appreciate the name! It couldn’t be better I think, because no one would like to go on with their journey after such a long walk. And by the way, no one was there when we arrived! Finally we found a couple, two locals, coming to us!

The long stairs seemed to be no ending at all

The clean spring from the top mountain

The endless steps are terrifying~

Finally we arrived at the so-called Entertained Temple

After the rest, it was about the noon, so we went down to the village for lunch. Isn’t it ridiculous?

The mineral spring water factory's gate is firmly closed~

Their business never stops! We took a motorcycle to the Ancient Temple, where we met another interesting story. We bought some sandalwood for the thearchies there, but later we were told we didn’t need to buy actually because the temple had got it ready for us. Then a woman took away our sandalwood, and put half of them on their desk, saying we should donate some money for thearchies. We had to, because she held the other half of our sandalwood and wouldn’t give it to us until we donate the money. I just wonder what would thearchies think about it if they do exist.

The Ancient Temple

We then started for the Tianhu Lake. On the way, we met many people selling the spring bean curd. And we decided to have some. Another interesting story to tell. We asked the saleswoman to lower the price a little bit because others’ was cheaper. She told me that theirs’ was not made by spring, but tap water instead. Then I said to her: “ It seems you are much cleverer! And they are too stupid! For the spring costs nothing here, while people have to pay for the tap water.” Shame flushed her face, and she had nothing to say. Of course, we were not trying to make fun of her. So later we just enjoyed the bean curd there.

The beauty of the Tianhu Lake

Guowen and I by the Lake

We happened to meet Che Zhi, an old friend of us on the way to the Tianhu Lake, so we went together. After half an hour’s walk, we got to the lake. In fact, it was just a small lake, or rather, a shallow pool! But the scenery there was quite all right, I did enjoy walking around the lake.

Finally, we headed for the summit. On our way we passed through the Maofeng Cliff and the Half Peak Temple. But the Maofeng Cliff turned out to be two big rocks, nothing’s specially. The Half Peak Temple was fine, and probably it was the best temple in Maofeng Mountain. Then, again, it was a long walk. About half an hour later, we began to hear someone talking, and soon we found some tourists in front of us. The summit was right here! “ We are here! We did it!” We shouted happily. We felt somewhat proud of ourselves. After all, we spent almost a whole day walking and climbing for it, the highest point of Guangzhou, though it is only about 534 meters above sea level. It was a great pity that the weather was not so pleasant, otherwise it would be wonderful to watch the whole picture of Guangzhou.

The Maofeng Cliff turned out to be two big rocks!

the Half Peak Temple in the green trees

a happy family on the way to the summit

Guowen and I are on the top of the mountain!

After enjoying an ice cream there, we began to go down the mountain.

Tags
